Western Downs Watermain Upgrade

Trazlbat was engaged to undertake the design, construction, testing, and commissioning of approximately 2 kilometres of DN100 PVC-M PN16 water main across Chinchilla and Tara, Queensland. The project formed part of a broader water infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving network reliability, service delivery, and long-term operational performance.

The works included all approvals, civil construction activities, service connections, testing, commissioning, and environmental reinstatement, delivered while maintaining access and minimising impacts on residents, road users, utility providers, and the surrounding environment.

Scope of Works

• Design and construction of approximately 1,870 metres of DN100 PVC-M PN16 water main.
• Management and acquisition of all required approvals, permits, and stakeholder notifications.
• Service locating, protection, and management of existing underground utilities.
• Installation of hydrants, isolation valves, and associated water infrastructure fittings.
• Construction of new property service connections and live tie-ins to the existing network.
• Installation of road crossings, driveway crossings, and crossings beneath private accessways.
• Excavation, bedding, pipe laying, jointing, backfilling, and compaction works.
• Pressure testing, swabbing, flushing, and disinfection of the completed pipeline.
• Reinstatement of roads, driveways, and other disturbed infrastructure.
• Revegetation and environmental restoration of affected areas.
• Testing, commissioning, and integration of the new infrastructure into the existing water network.
